Sparta's Bike Trails

The Sparta-Elroy bike trail is famous for it's three tunnels.  Here a group of bikers is getting ready to walk through Tunnel #3 which is 3/4 mile long!  You can just see the other end when you start through!

Built in the late 1800's, trains traveled through these dark, drippy tunnels up until the 1960's.  Be sure to bring a small flashlight and a light jacket if you don't want to get a little wet.

Tunnel #3 is just a 8 mile ride from CabooseCabins.

How does this work?  Driver will come to the cabin and park his car.  He will ride or drive your car to the site you want to bike back from and drive your car back to the caboose and park it.  Bring a spare set of keys if you want the driver to lock the keys in the car or he can leave them hidden somewhere.  All these folks are very honest and friendly retired people who love promoting Sparta tourism.  You can feel completely safe allowing them to drive you car.  The price is VERY reasonable for thier time and all the great info and perhaps a few stories or jokes you might enjoy on the way!
